Italy has delayed its €2 customs handling fee on imports under  €150, just days before payments were set to begin, following significant disruption to inbound eCommerce volumes. The fee led to shipments being  rerouted through other EU countries, resulting in substantial losses for Italian airports and logistics providers. Italy now plans to align with the EU’s broader customs changes, including a €3 levy and de minimis suspension taking effect July 1, 2026.
