Thailand’s Customs Department has confirmed that, starting January 1, 2026, all online purchases imported into Thailand—regardless of value—will be subject to import duty and VAT. This ends the current de minimis exemption for goods under 1,500 THB. The policy aims to close tax loopholes, align with global standards, and generate an estimated 3 billion THB annually. Authorities are coordinating with major e-commerce platforms to streamline data sharing for efficient tax collection. From an operational standpoint, no process changes are expected; duties and taxes will simply now apply to all shipments instead of only those above 1,500 THB.
