Canada Post says it has set a date for its largest union of postal workers to begin a vote on its latest and “final” offer. The vote will be held starting July 21 and close Aug, 1 at 5 p.m.
Canada Post has announced that its largest union, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), will begin voting on the company’s final contract offer starting July 21 through August 1. The offer includes a wage increase, signing bonus, continued defined benefit pension, and job security provisions. The vote, administered confidentially by the Canada Industrial Relations Board, will be conducted online or by phone. If ratified, the agreement would end over 18 months of negotiations and strike activity, which Canada Post says has been costing the company $10 million per day in June.
